What is RSS?
RSS is a system that allows you to "pull" information to you. Instead of you having to go to a website to see if it has been updated, RSS (Really Simple Syndication) shows you any new content.
What do I need?
To use RSS feeds you will need a so-called RSS aggregator. A recommended one for Windows is SharpReader and for Mac is NewsFire, both of which are available for free. On those sites you will also find more detailed information on how to use them. Alternatively, if you use Mozilla Firefox, you can use the Sage extension.
How do I know whether a website uses RSS or not?
Many websites that are regularly updated (e.g. news websites like http://news.bbc.co.uk)
are now available via RSS. When you visit your favourite website look for
the "RSS feed" link or the
logo.
